A design manifesto

Modern shouldn't mean a box with better trim.

Most "modern modular homes" are the same rectangle with darker cladding. That's because a framed module is built from straight lumber — every curve costs extra labor, so the design gets flattened until it's cheap to build. Azure took the opposite path: our robotic printer lays down a continuous recycled-polymer shell, and a printed wall follows whatever line the architect draws. A sweeping wave, a leaning volume, a softened corner — same robot, same price logic.

That's why our lineup looks the way it does. The D_120 carries a wave-form roof, the N_100 an asymmetrical roofline, and the A_120 a crisp classic-modern gable — each printed as one seamless form, then paired with generous glazing and clean minimal interiors. If you want to steer the form yourself, see our custom modular homes; if the budget question comes first, start with our guide to how much modular homes cost.

Because the whole structure is prefabricated in our Gardena, California factory, the sculpted shell arrives finished — electrical, plumbing, and interiors done — up to 70% faster than traditional construction, with 0% print waste.

The design language

Form and function, printed together.

Every Azure modern modular home is designed as a whole — the sculpted shell and the way it performs are the same decision.

Form

  • Sweeping wave-form and asymmetrical rooflines
  • Curved corners and continuous, seamless surfaces
  • Classic-modern gable option for a crisper silhouette
  • Clean, minimal interiors with no framing bulk
  • One sculptural shell — no visible module seams

Function

  • Generous glazing for daylight and views
  • Sealed printed envelope, energy efficient by design
  • Recycled-polymer shell — ~100,000 bottles per 120 sq ft
  • HVAC, electrical, and plumbing finished in the factory
  • Optional solar and battery for off-grid capability
The studies in form

Three rooflines, one printer.

Azure's Studio Series treats the roof as the signature. Choose the line that fits your site — each is printed in about a day.

N_100 · The asymmetric
From $24,900
100 sq ft · 9'×11' · open studio
An asymmetrical roofline gives the smallest Azure studio a leaning, dynamic profile — a sculptural object for a garden, courtyard, or creative workspace.
D_120 · The wave
From $29,900
120 sq ft · 9'×13' · open studio
The signature sweeping wave-form roof — a curve traditional framing simply can't produce at this price. The purest expression of what a printed home can be.
A_120 · The gable
Price on request
120 sq ft · 9'×13' · 10' tall
A classic gable, reinterpreted — crisp lines and a 10-foot peak that reads modern-farmhouse outside and lofty, light-filled studio inside.
Robotic arms 3D-printing a modular home shell in the Azure factory
Printed, not framed

Why the printer is the design tool.

In our factory, robotic arms extrude the wall, roof, and structure as one continuous piece of fortified recycled polymer. There are no studs forcing straight lines and no sheathing hiding joints — the geometry you see is the structure itself, printed with machine precision in as little as one day.

Finishes, glazing, electrical, and plumbing are installed in the same factory over 4–15 days, so the sculpted form arrives complete. Delivery takes 1–2 days and on-site installation 1–4 — then you move in.

Why Azure

Design credibility, built in.

Azure Printed Homes builds robotically 3D-printed modular homes from recycled polymers in Gardena, California — recognized in TIME's Best Inventions of 2022. Every 120 sq ft of home reuses roughly the equivalent of 100,000 plastic bottles, printed with 0% waste. For a design-led buyer, that matters twice: the printed process is what makes the sculptural forms possible, and it makes the home itself an environmental statement rather than a compromise.

The modern aesthetic scales across the whole lineup — from the compact studios above (see all of our small modular homes) to full one- and two-bedroom homes and ADUs up to 900 sq ft in the Homes & ADUs series. Configuration takes about an hour, and loan pre-qualification is available through our partner Acorn Finance.

Questions

Modern modular home FAQs.

What makes a modular home "modern"?

Modern design is about form, light, and material honesty — clean lines, sculptural rooflines, generous glazing, and minimal interiors. Because Azure homes are 3D-printed rather than stick-framed, the architecture is in the structure itself: wave-form and asymmetrical roofs, curved corners, and seamless shells, not a standard box dressed up with dark cladding.

How does 3D printing enable shapes traditional framing can't?

A framed wall is built from straight lumber, so every curve means custom carpentry and cost. Azure's robotic printer extrudes the wall as a continuous recycled-polymer form, so a sweeping curve prints as easily as a straight line. That's how the D_120's wave roof and the N_100's asymmetrical roofline are produced at studio prices.

Which Azure models have the most distinctive modern designs?

The Studio Series is the design showcase: the D_120 (120 sq ft) with its wave-form roof, the N_100 (100 sq ft) with an asymmetrical roofline, and the A_120 (120 sq ft, 10' tall) with a crisp classic-modern gable. The same printed aesthetic carries through the larger Homes & ADUs lineup up to 900 sq ft.

How much does a modern modular home cost?

Azure's modern studios start at $24,900 for the N_100 and $29,900 for the wave-roof D_120, while full homes and ADUs run from $89,900 (360 sq ft) to $219,900 (900 sq ft, 2 bed). Pricing is fixed — the sculptural form doesn't carry a custom-build premium — and financing is available through Acorn Finance.

Are the large windows and glazing energy efficient?

Yes. The glazing is paired with a sealed, continuous printed envelope — no framing gaps or thermal-bridging studs — so the home stays energy efficient while letting in daylight. HVAC is installed in the factory and tuned to your climate, and solar with battery storage is available as an option.

How fast can a modern modular home be delivered?

The shell prints in about one day, factory finishing takes 4–15 days, delivery 1–2 days, and on-site installation 1–4 days — up to 70% faster than traditional construction. Design configuration itself takes about an hour, with a salesperson or the online configurator.
