Backyard Studios For Small, Flexible Uses

For a real site, fewer studios with better spacing will usually be more useful than trying to push the count as high as possible.

By pure footprint math, one acre could hold 242 units at 180 sq ft, 161 units at 270 sq ft, or 121 units at 360 sq ft. In a real project, the practical count would be much lower. The better goal is to create a layout that works for movement, privacy, utilities, and the intended use of the site.
Homes And ADUs For Residential Projects
Our Homes & ADUs category includes larger models from 360 sq ft up to 900 sq ft, with layouts that feel closer to permanent residential use. The main product listings include 360, 540, 720, and 900 sq ft options.
These units usually need the most site planning because they behave more like homes than simple backyard structures. A one-acre property with ADU-style units may need more attention to foundations, utility connections, drainage, parking, code compliance, and long-term livability.
By footprint math, an acre could hold 121 units at 360 sq ft or 48 units at 900 sq ft. A real residential layout would normally use far fewer. The final count depends on how much land must remain open for access, setbacks, parking, infrastructure, and shared outdoor space.
When A Higher Count Makes Sense
A higher unit count may make sense when the units are very small, the site is flat, access is simple, utilities are centralized, and the use case does not require much private outdoor space for each unit.
